What I did for my passion project was I made a workout plan for a 400m sprinter and a workout plan for a triple jumper. The reason I chose this is that I am going to an international track meet down in Australia over the summer and I need to get stronger and stay in shape so that I am fully prepared for the event, and so I can do my best. So I researched how the muscles break down and rebuild and how fast twitch and slow twitch muscles work, so based on those things I built the workouts specifically for those two advents
If I was going to do this project again I would incorporate a meal plan along with specific stretches to do on each workout days. I didn’t consider these to things when I first made the workouts but afterward, I definitely thought it would have been a good idea because if you don’t eat right you won't be giving your body the right things to actually make you stronger. Also with stretching because stretching your muscles correctly is a great way to recover after a workout, but researching every stretch that would benefit each specific muscle would have taken longer than I had time for
How this project made me think differently about making workouts is when I thought about making a workout I just thought you would through some good weight lifting exercises like some squats bench press or things like that, but it's so much more complicated than that. Yes, those are good exercises but when you are training for something specific there is so much more that goes into it. You need to know the level of your athletes and what they are training for because yes you can go to the gym and do just the basic exercises and get fit and strong, but when you know what workouts work what muscles you can totally build up your muscles and make yourself stronger in the way that you want.
